[ The message is out and the AI (?) known as DAWN has reached out to all of New Amsterdam in reply to the call. In response, El has created a temporary network to facilitate communication between the Displaced and the presumed AI. The network and its contents will be deleted within seven days of the posting, at 21:59. That means there will be no referencing conversations past November 14th. There can be no private filters between PCs on this post, and pings will also not work.

Those who sign into the network will be prompted with a basic input box and text that displays "Enter your handle." For this post, the PCs will be able to create their own temporary handles when talking with DAWN.

El will chip in when needed, and the PCs are free to converse with themselves. Those who want to speak with DAWN can under this toplevel. ]

Displaced, this is a temporary network that I've set up for the express purpose of making contact with DAWN. It, and everything on it, will be wiped in one week's time.

I'll be keeping an eye on everything that's discussed here and intervene if necessary.

It wouldn't be the first time I've watched leaders and politicians kill their own people for their "greater good."

I don't know. I only have anecdotal accounts of these "monsters," and not enough to calculate any conclusions to give you a definitive answer.

I'm guessing it won't be as simple as asking you what the stakes are.
But if they involve all of us — you, me, humanity — then we can try to survive together, or we can give up and die together.
I don't know about you, but I don't plan on rolling over anytime soon.

When I make my calculations I take many variables into consideration depending on the complexity of the situation. Outcome is not definitive, but lies within the realm of creating possibilities. Most algorithms can't utilize the variable of human nature, but I can due to the range of change. One thing leads to another, and another, and another, and another and so on. Most of the time, many events, even under different circumstances, will lead to the same outcome.
Possibilities are weighed by risk and probability of certain consequences. The stakes in this case are not just for the Earth, but for more than that. How much more is out of my realm of ability. Those calculations cannot be run.

I also calculate the odds of my own survival.

The report mentioned unidentified assailants.
Do you know who shot down their research drones?
Is there anything else in North America that's important for us to know about?
