[ The message is out and the AI (?) known as DAWN has reached out to all of New Amsterdam in reply to the call. In response, El has created a temporary network to facilitate communication between the Displaced and the presumed AI. The network and its contents will be deleted within seven days of the posting, at 21:59. That means there will be no referencing conversations past November 14th. There can be no private filters between PCs on this post, and pings will also not work.

Those who sign into the network will be prompted with a basic input box and text that displays "Enter your handle." For this post, the PCs will be able to create their own temporary handles when talking with DAWN.

El will chip in when needed, and the PCs are free to converse with themselves. Those who want to speak with DAWN can under this toplevel. ]

Displaced, this is a temporary network that I've set up for the express purpose of making contact with DAWN. It, and everything on it, will be wiped in one week's time.

I'll be keeping an eye on everything that's discussed here and intervene if necessary.

i don't know if i can give you a satisfactory reason by your standards
but not knowing is distressing
the idea that we're being experimented on and then being dumped here in new amsterdam with chunks of memory missing is terrifying in ways i can't put into words
being taken from my home and replaced in someone else's bed scares me so badly that my hands start shaking when i think about it too much
i want to know who is doing this to us
i want to know how to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else
i want to know if i can go home and if i can bring people with me who don't have much to go back to

you're right that i don't trust you
i don't really trust anyone native to this world
but i'm willing to listen to whatever it is you want or need to say
and i'm willing to extend a little bit of trust and vulnerability in return for information

for me, vulnerability is usually tied to emotions and personal information
and anyway, i don't know what a display of physical vulnerability would mean to an ai
i could offer you knowledge of myself
