First of all, people died. More specifically, people were killed. Generally people are arrested for that, this isn't a new world exclusive. Crime and punishment is a fairly universal concept and we don't have the resources to be above the law.
"Save". I don't know where you come from, but typically jailbreak isn't the way we keep an innocent person from prison. If it turns out this was the doing of the drug and not their own intention, snatching them out from under the law is only going to serve to bring more attention to the rest of us and condemn them further.
This will be handled in the best way it can be. But barreling in there to stage a misguided 'rescue' isn't that.
As for the people crying murder, I agree. Not a good introduction. But you haven't been here quite long enough to understand the risks at play. They're just responding according to their best understanding of how to keep everyone safe. They're also over-ruled.
