Hi everyone. So with potential talk about traveling more, we might want to consider whether it will be worthwhile to create more gates with the places we go to. In order to do that we need relics. We do currently have enough (gates need four) to jump around, I know several of us have them, but it is possible that there are more in the ruins that people didn't pick up when we opened the first gates. It's sort of a 'the more the merrier' in case of emergency with them.

Info: the relics started out seeming normal and then a few days later glowing. They glow when a Displaced holds them, so we will eventually figure out which ones work. Any of us can hold them, it's not like they bind themselves to one of us. The relics were able to help during the monster attack by keeping the mind control/monster turning from happening. So they're helpful outside of the gates, but the gates are the main purpose.

Anyway, I was thinking of going on a quick expedition back to the four locations of the ruins and searching to see if there are more relics we can scoop up. If there are people here who want to come see them for the first time and see if a relic reacts to them, they're welcome to. I'm not sure if there's a one-relic one-person rule, I know that I picked up a bunch of relics and only one of them worked, so take that with a grain of salt. I was thinking maybe in a few days? So people can think about it and our newcomers to be a part of it if they want. We can start with Mt. Everest and then go over to New Oslo, New Cairo, and New Rio de Janeiro.

PS (I know I know shut up Q): Those of us who already have relics might want to make sure it is known to close friends that if they are sent back, their relic should be brought to Red Wings so they may be used by us in the future! I inherited my extra ones that way. I am also happy to show people how to use the gates themselves during this and how to close them. Okay I'm stopping now! Sound out in the comments.


Edited to add: I'm going to scout first to see if the yellow-eyed creatures are down there, because I don't want to put anyone at risk. I'll update if it seems questionable.

No idea. But some people have left and come back and they remember going home.

What kinds of things? Or is it usually about old artifacts imbued with god-powers used to teleport around the world and bottleneck monsters

It actually is kind of those things. I'm a magic user back home. We deal with gods, mythological beasts and entities, other planets, all that sort of thing. One of the worlds we've been to is a place called Fillory, technically I used to be a king there, it was a very weird Narnia-esque situation. But books were written about Fillory and I memorized all of it, so I had a lot of info about the supernatural stuff most people didn't think was real.

If you're dead back home, how are you alive here?

That's a very good question. From what I can tell, people are like ... plucked out of the timeline as they die. So I wasn't dead yet, but when I go back I will be. Which is fine, I died for a good reason, I can't reverse it.

Yeah I think people probably are going back to where they were plucked out of the timeline. People have disappeared, gone back home, and then come back here, and they remember going back.

Okay so like. The books about Fillory were written by this very fucked up dude that was curious about these weird stories the kids next door were talking aabout. So he copied down what they wrote and published them. But everything they said was true, they were magic users who found a way into Fillory and had many adventures there. But I thought they were just normal books until we went to Fillory too.

Ah, yes, that would throw quite the wrench into things. Lucky these gates don't seem to have been affected, eh?

They're not dead, they still exist in your world doing whatever they were doing before. And maybe you'll be one of the lucky people who do want to go back who get to. But for now it's better to try to exist here until then.

How did you even get there? Magic train?

So there's like multiple ways to get there. There are portals the gods intentionally created, that's how the Chatwins got there (the kids who were the subject of the books). But only the people they choose could do that. There's travelers like my roommate Penny who can teleport to other worlds if they're trained. And there's the Neitherlands fountains. All the discovered worlds in the multiverse have fountains that are portals to them within the Neitherlands.

There's specific ones, but you kind of learn that by doing. There's a whole lot of them, and we've only really dared to go between Earth and Fillory. Those two places are fucked up enough as it is. We've been to like the Underworld and Mirror Realm too, but they're different.

Very cool adventures. You'll see. Normally I'd be like it's okay! Everything will be fine! But like lol that would be a fucking lie considering what you've seen going on. But we do keep moving and keep surviving.
