[ posted late at night, the musings of an old man who cannot sleep and has spent too long browsing the news: ]

I know there are a lot of plants and yes, they're growing very fast, but

an entire political platform running mainly on getting rid of them? Really? There's got to be a better way.

I haven't kept up on political platforms very well lately.

( too many personal issues and all. he's trying to be better. )

But that's a one way street to a concrete jungle. What's the point in getting rid of harmless things like plants?

I've seen a lot of stupid things thrown around for the sake of getting elected but getting rid of plants entirely is one of the stupidest ones.

( there were ways to keep plants from growing so much that they got to be a problem. even someone without a green thumb knew that. )

You a botanist?

A politician will seize on anything they think they can unite people against. Uniting people for takes a clever politician, and I haven't come across many of those in my travels.

Dumb platform. Petty.

[ He's not just saying that because of the plant Larry gave him in the simulation. But, of course, he does remember it. ]

Thought people would like it. Environment here's fucked, right? Plants are good.

People can make a political party out of anything.

Could transfer plants to pots?

Perhaps they're a gentler sort who doesn't want to target a people group. Or perhaps they're building up and testing out what they can ask of their supporters? It may be easier to eventually create zealots rather than find them.

[ Maine hesitates briefly, wondering what he'd do with a potted plant. But then he thinks of that moment in the simulation… ]

Sure.
plainsimple: (Think carefully)

This is Earth, and extreme causes seem to be what appeals to humans the most. But I have only just arrived on this particular Earth so I don't have nearly enough information to say that's what is happening.

They have been a problem for a while. Not pressing, but annoying enough for some residents to feel strongly about I am sure.

What kind?

[ Not that Maine knows much about plants, really. But he could look it up. Make sure he takes good care of it. ]
