Good evening,

As one of the more recent arrivals to New Amsterdam, as well as Earth itself, I have a number of questions, even after conducting my own research into this world. I'm hoping some of the more experienced individuals here would be able to offer some guidance on these matters, even if it's merely relaying their own experiences.

Of course, my first priority is to ensure some semblance of stability. What sectors have you all found to have the greatest opportunities for employment? I'm aware that the credentials on our IDs are somewhat lacking, and thus any previous experience is likely all but worthless here. I'll admit that it's been quite some time since I've had to even consider looking for employment, but an income is a necessity- especially as I'd rather not rely on Morningstar's generosity any longer than necessary.

I'm also curious as to what you all have found to be the most difficult thing to adjust to upon arrival. Perhaps there are hardships some of we newer individuals have yet to run into and could preemptively address.

After that, I would like to know if there are any coherent goals among us as a group, or if people tend to go their own way and fade into society as best they can once arriving and acclimating. From what I can tell from the small amount of information I've gained, the dimensional-abduction-and-experimentation is something of a trend that we can assume to continue, and I'm willing to assume that many of you are just as indignant about it as myself. Has there been any opportunity to learn more about it before the most recent arrivals?

[ Immediately, the browser of their conversation fills with several large, heavily pixelated images. All of them are a variation of this - cats and tacos, in varying poses. Where did she even get them? Are they very historical, of a time when domesticated pets and ground meat were commonplace? Why would she even download them to her brain's inherent bandwidth in the first place?

Are they causing a crazy amount of lag across their private neural network?

What can you do? I'm a soldier back home, and a pilot, but I can't be either of those things here. So I drive hover taxis for a living.

Being without people I care about has been the hardest part of being here. I usually work with a team.

The group all works together to try to find out what's happening here. Some people try to help people caught up in this, while others investigate what's going on. We split the work. We all want to know what's going on. I think that's the common goal.

[But Keith specifically leaves a lot of that to other people. He's better at acting as a soldier and playing hero to people in need.]

That's a rather complicated question. Suffice to say, as a retainer to the crown it was my duty to ensure the success of the Crown Prince, in whatever way necessary. I've served as everything as a scribe in wartime council meetings to a bodyguard.

[...and pseudo-older-brother-slash-babysitter, and chef, and driver, and adviser, and strategist, and alarm clock, and personal grocery shopper, and maid...]

That's an unfortunate fact to acclimate to. If only there were more to be able to be done about it.

Are you aware of any leads or progress that's been made? I understand that's a lot to ask, but I plan on catching up as quickly as possible to ensure ability to contribute myself.

In all of that, what do you want to do?

[That makes more sense as an approach to this—at least in Keith's mind. He considers what Ignis says he can do, and it sounds like he can do just about anything, unless he likes holding down six different jobs.

As it is, Keith ... decides not to talk about his feelings with a guy he got into an argument with, and skips ahead:]

There was a monster attack a couple months ago. That's why the city looks like it's repairing itself. We're connected to it somehow. A fire with smoke made a bunch of people sick because there were parts of the monster inside, and we had the ability to heal them from this sickness. No one knows how or why it's happening.

The fire seems like it was a way to cover up a murder of one of the nurses that drops us off. But there's no way for there to be an investigation. At least from what I heard.

I know these aren't answers. We're doing our best.

[There's a long delay. Because.... well. Ignis has never considered that. What he wants to do. As opposed to is expected to do, has sworn to do, needs to do, must do. What he wants is nebulous and encompassing: Noctis's safety and success. But what he wants to do here, for income?

I... suppose I'm not sure. Whatever would provide the most job security and reasonable hours to income, I suppose. My goal isn't for job satisfaction, but for the stability to allow me to focus my efforts on more important matters.

That's quite the scenario. It may not be answers, but it's information, which is equally valuable. I appreciate your sharing it.

So only those of us from other worlds were able to cure the afflicted? May I ask how?

Reliable income is why I'm a driver.

[Simply put: it's the easiest thing he could do with his skillset without explaining why someone with his size and stature can be a bodyguard, and he doesn't trust this world's soldiers. They remind him too much of the Galra, and not in the rebel group sort of way.]

We touched them, and our chests glowed. It was skin to skin contact. It activated whatever was inside of us.

Do you mean in regards to employment or in regards to my questioning? For both I suppose I could say I'm curious as to other's experiences shortly after arrival, so I have an idea of what to expect, or what leads they may have found.

Well, that's the only kind of answer, really. If it didn't lead to even more questions, something must have been done wrong.

I feel as though that would be even more troublesome than gainful employment. Far less consistent and requiring far more work and effort. Perhaps better kept as a hobby.

You say you're 'thinking about taking it up'- have you only just recently arrived, not sought an income until now, or are you dissatisfied with your current work?

I suppose it gives you an innate knowledge of the city streets. Do you generally keep to a small radius, or are you forced to travel all about New Amsterdam?

I was imagining doing something in which I can speak with the locals here easily, to give me an understanding of local customs as to better blend in.

So it was related to the emotional link we have. And these injured people- were they are own, or native citizens of this city? I was under the impression that the glowing only occurred between us, but it's possible there are alternate uses.

Everyone's always saying "I can't go back to my old profession" but I used to be a thief and I can't see why I couldn't continue to be so.

It seems not so different from rotting in a safehouse all day and taking food from the cupboards.

There weren't so many people on the planet I come from. That's been the hardest part.

The work's easy, actually. Mechanical systems are mechanical systems in any galaxy, I guess. I started at a mechanic shop, and now I do on-call work. What were you doing before?

like @keith.kogane said, figuring out what's going on, how we got here, what was done to us and how to get back are all common goals, i think

here, here, here, here and here are some of the things we've figured out so far. mostly, it's stuff that raises more questions.

In regards to whatever you deemed the most important, really. There's quite a lot and many of us with a varied resume from the universes in which we reside.
But it hardly seems to matter here, in a city which is filled to the brim with people seeking the same opportunities.
Just don't take up something too boring.

A small radius would be boring. I'm used to traveling across galaxies. I explore as much as I can every day.

What if you joined a catering business?

[It only comes to mind because someone had been in his car talking about choosing caterers. Ignis seems like the type to ... enjoy the minutia of cleaning up after people at events, and keeping people in line.]

Some were our own. Some were the people in the city. The infection wasn't from us, but the monster. Probably.

Others have covered the job situation. Current goals are just to gather as much intel as possible. Investigate any and all leads. Personally, I want to see everyone combat ready and able to defend themselves.

It was only a matter of time.......

Ig it depends on whether or not you wanna join Morningstar? I figured it was a good idea.

The hardest thing has been the food. [ Not really, but it's an easier answer than the real ones. ]
